Dr Shyam Menon is an experienced Consultant Gastroenterologist based in Wolverhampton and an NHS base in Birmingham Heartlands Hospital, part of University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, with expertise in hepatobiliary and pancreatic medicine.

Dr Shyam Menon is a leading Gastroenterologist with expertise in hepatobiliary and pancreatic medicine and interventional endoscopy.
Dr Menon’s areas of specialist interest include the management of disorders of the liver, bile duct and pancreatic disease. In addition to diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, he is experienced in ERCP, cholangioscopy (endoscopic examination of the bile duct) and Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS).
He trained in the West Midlands and during his training, he undertook a body of research examining the influence of gender on the development of Barrett’s oesophagus and oesophageal cancer that led to an MD awarded by the University of Birmingham. During his training, he was awarded degrees in Epidemiology and Nutritional Medicine. He additionally underwent training in advanced hepatobiliary endoscopy at Liverpool as part of a fellowship.
In addition to expertise in general gastroenterology and hepatology, he has established a large clinical and academic clinical practice in hepatobiliary and pancreatic medicine and is active in clinical research, teaching and training. He was recently awarded Fellowships of the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and the American Gastroenterological Association.
